A Project is under way to establish the names and lives of those not only on the War Memorial at Blackmore but also those who died who were connected with Blackmore. All served in the First World War (or Great War as it was known then). There are 21 names who died inscribed on the War Memorial plus a further 81 who served and returned to Essex. The 'Blackmore War Memorial Research Project Group' currently has a list of 44 men who died or were killed being investigated plus the numerous who survived.
